As spam levels increase, so will anti-spam filtering technology. ISPs today have really starting to crack down and are getting very serious about controlling this problem. General Rules If you are sending commercial email to anyone, it is very important you know the law of the land before you schedule anything or you risk getting into some serious trouble. The Federal Trade Commission released the CAN-SPAM Act in 2003 which is a set of minimum requirements all commercial emailers must adhere to by law, but it's important to note here the key word is 'minimum'. These requirements will not guarantee your email stays out of the junk box, which is why the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group was kind enough to put together the MAAWG Sender Best Communications Practices guide in 2004 (recently updated in 2008).
